We’re just built to be better. We are a great company.We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Lab Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting testing on construction materials to ensure they meet specified standards, specification, and project requirements. Communicate with project manager, technicians, and others as applicable regarding the testing, observation, and results. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations as written and digital reports as work is performed. Maintain and calibrate equipment and clean lab work areas. This role is critical in ensuring the quality and safety of construction projects.Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Sample Collection and Preparation:
  • Collect samples of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials from various job sites, when required.
  • Prepare and label samples for testing according to standard procedures.
  • Laboratory Testing:
  • Perform standard tests on construction materials, such as compressive strength, moisture content, density, and compaction.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Follow standardized testing methods and procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Data Recording and Analysis:
  • Record and document test results meticulously.
  • Analyze data to ensure materials meet specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare detailed reports of findings and communicate results to the Lab Manager or project team.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and quality control protocols.
  • Identify and report any deviations or non-conformities in test results or sample conditions.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as required.
  • Safety and Maintenance:
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures within the laboratory and on job sites.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.

RequirementsMinimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in materials science, construction technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in conducting tests and recording data.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications and data entry.

Technical requirements:

  • Previous experience in construction materials testing or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, and relevant local regulations.
