Job description: Position Title: Postpartum Nurse ManagerSalary: $130,000 annuallySchedule: Full-time, 36 hours per week, day shift with variable hours and occasional on-call weekendsJob Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Postpartum Nurse Manager to lead our dynamic postpartum unit. As the Nurse Manager, you will oversee the clinical and financial outcomes of the unit, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to mothers and newborns. This role includes managing a highly skilled team, fostering a professional work environment, and aligning departmental goals with the hospitals strategic plans.Job Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, ensuring effective management and coordination within the unit.
  • Personnel Management: Manage hiring, training, and retention of qualified staff. Develop and support a professional nursing environment.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards of care.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage the units budget, optimizing resource utilization and cost efficiency.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with hospital leadership to set and achieve short- and long-term goals that align with the hospitals mission and strategic plans.
  • Professional Development: Encourage continuous learning and professional growth within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Licensure: Active Texas RN license or a compact license with Texas licensure obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications; specialty certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role in postpartum or maternal health settings. Experience in managing clinical and personnel matters.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Bilingual in Spanish preferred due to patient demographics.

Additional Information:

  • Unit Overview: 35-bed unit expanding to 45, Level IV NICU, handling approximately 3,600 births/year. The department includes 3 ORs & recovery areas on the womens floor.
  • Team Structure: 45 FTEs with a mix of RNs and unit clerks. Current nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6, aiming for 1:5.
